President Bola Tinubu’s supplemental appropriations bill, according to Rep. Abubakar Bichi, the chairman of the House Committee on Appropriations, is thoughtfully drafted to support food security, address security concerns, and improve vital road infrastructure.
When the chairman of INEC, service chiefs, and the ministers of works, defense, agriculture, and food security stood before the committee in Abuja to defend the budget, Bichi made these remarks.
According to him, the housing shortage would also be addressed in the budget, including urban regeneration and slum improvements.
He noted that provisions for providing disadvantaged Nigerians with cash transfers and workers with provisional payments were also included in the proposals.
According to him, the bill also allotted funds for the Kogi, Bayelsa, and Imo States’ next off-cycle elections.

President Tinubu claims that the bill aims to improve several important industries.
Sen. Dave Umahi, the minister of works, and Abubakar Kyari, the minister of agriculture and food security, spoke before the committee to defend their budget.
The Independent Electoral Commission (INEC), the Nigeria Police, and the service chiefs were among the others.
Speaking, Umahi stated that N18.6 billion was needed to construct an ideal road system throughout the federation, noting that the majority of Nigerian roads were in terrible condition.
He said, “I recently traveled to Edo State by road, and because of the appalling state of our roads in the nation, it took me 14 hours to get to Benin.”
