According to Maigari Ahmadu, the Minister of State for Steel Development, the Federal Government plans to restructure the nation’s steel industry in order to boost the nation’s economy, generate jobs, and expedite industrialization.
This was said by Ahmadu on Friday during a familiarization visit to the Governor of Anambra State, Chukwuma Soludo, at the Governor’s Lodge in the Amawbia, Awka region of the state.
He declared that the state is a “cluster of industrial development in the country” that he recognizes.
The Minister, who had earlier toured the Metallurgical Training Institute in Onitsha, expressed hope that the federal and state governments would work together to increase interest in acquiring new skills and communicate with the institute in order to end poverty.
Declaring that the visit was the outcome of a well-planned agenda, he disclosed that it was the first facility tour he would be leading under his direction.
“The current administration is passionate about the steel sector,” he declared. Under President Bola Tinubu’s direction, the MTI in Onitsha would receive significant attention while being creative with the resources at hand.
Soludo praised the current administration for giving priority to the important things while he was meeting the Minister.
Additionally, he voiced hope that the current administration would take the necessary steps to realize the nation’s enormous potential.
Previously, MTI, Onitsha’s Director and CEO, Bode Fakuade, asked for more government support for the Institute in the form of funding and additional infrastructure.
According to Fakuade, infrastructure and financing will help young people develop their skills and reduce restlessness.
