A 406 Peugeot and a tanker vehicle collided on Stadium Road near Uruaebot Market in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, resulting in one confirmed fatality.
Paul James, FRSC Public Enlightenment Officer, stated that a tanker and a 406 Peugeot were both involved in the collision on Friday.
He said: “On Thursday, October 19, 2023, at about 10:40 am, a tanker with registration number MHA869XA and a 406 Peugeot with registration number CL775ABC were involved in a deadly collision along Stadium Road by Uruaebot Market.
“The one involved individual was pronounced deceased and sent to the hospital morgue. After receiving a report of the event, FRSC personnel went to the accident site.
According to the statement, an investigation revealed that the incident was caused by overspeeding and insufficiently displayed caution signals.
Matthew Olonisaye, the FRSC’s sector commander in Akwa Ibom State, characterized the occurrence as sad and said that if the parties involved had rigorously followed the laws and regulations governing road usage, the collision may have been prevented.
