Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has ordered the state police command to look into the alleged horrific murder of a school teacher, Mr. Sunday Ufua, by a parent and prosecute those responsible.
Ufua worked as a teacher at the Alihami Secondary School in Agbor, Ika South Local Government Area, of the state, till his tragic demise.
It was said that the deceased had corrected a misbehaving youngster.
“As a state government, we frown seriously at parents going to bully teachers for genuinely enforcing disciplinary measures against students for bad behavior, as is alleged in the extant case,” Oborevwori said in a letter of condolences signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Festus Ahon.
“I have instructed the State Police Command to thoroughly examine the situation and prosecute the offenders.
“I express my condolences to the Ufua family and teachers around the state on the terrible and untimely passing of their father and colleague on behalf of the Delta government and people.
We will never allow such behavior in our schools, as a state.
He said that the actions that resulted in Ufua’s death were both wrong and preventable.
The governor added that such delinquent conduct remained untenable in schools across the state and cautioned parents and guardians against taking unlawful action against teachers for addressing their misbehaving children and wards.
