Oby Ezekwesili, a former minister of education, has marked the third anniversary of the #EndSARS demonstrations.
Ezekwesili emphasized that “it’s never over until it’s over” as he advocated for the honoring of those who paid the ultimate price during the 2020 demonstrations.
Nigerian youths united in 2020 to demonstrate against police brutality and poor leadership in general at the Lekki Tollgate in Lagos.
After troops started firing on the demonstrators at the tollgate, the demonstration subsequently turned violent.
Ezekwesili recalled the episode and said that it wouldn’t be finished till it was.
She asked: “How can we ever forget 20-10-20?” in a post on X.
“A momentous Day when the young people of our country learned about Franz Fanon’s profound thoughts, which:
Each generation must find its purpose, carry it out, or betray it after emerging from relative obscurity.
“On this third anniversary, we must never forget the brave people who risked their lives to speak up for their constitutional rights and were subsequently murdered, maimed, or tortured as a result.
“We must never lose sight of those who have persisted in their objective despite realizing the price that must be paid in order to complete it. Before it ends, it’s still not over.
