According to the Kaduna State Fire Service, the state’s 252 fire incidents from January to September resulted in 33 fatalities.
Paul Aboi, the State Fire Service’s director, said this during a Friday interview in Kaduna.
According to Aboi, the service saved 15 people during that time, while four others were injured.
“The service saved property valued at about N3.4 billion, while others destroyed during the period under review were valued at N2.2 billion,” he added.
He said that the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and the fire department had collaborated to record 21 auto-fire accidents, some of which resulted in fatalities.
By teaching locals on fire safety precautions, the agency is trying its best to limit the number of fire outbreaks, according to the director.
In order to stop the tide of fire outbreaks in all areas of the state, Aboi recommended inhabitants to follow basic safety precautions.
Residents must exercise particular caution during the dry season since more fires break out during that time, he said.
