Two persons were arrested after yelling “two months to go” at Governor Abdullahi Sule at the Kini Country Home in Akwanga. Sule has denied ordering their detention.
Facebook user said that two Kini Country Home employees screamed “two months to go” as the governor left the gate on Wednesday and were then detained on the governor’s instructions.
“I heard with my left ear that yesterday afternoon, the departing governor of Nasarawa State ordered the arrest of two Kini Country Home Akwanga employees for yelling “2 months to go” as Engr. Sule was leaving the Kini Country Home gate. The departing governor is showing a clear disrespect for the right to free expression and association.
The former governor of Nasarawa State, Abdullahi Adamu, was stoned in the capital city of Lafia and spilled soup, but he didn’t order anyone to be arrested.
“Tanko Al-Makura was stoned and heckled in the Ekye Development Area of this Nasarawa State when he was running for a second term even though he didn’t make any arrests.
“If the outgoing Governor really did take this move, he has once again exposed the entire world to his antidemocratic behavior. It is preferable that he adopt an attitude of sportsmanship, admit defeat, and bow. Read the Facebook statement.
In response, Governor Sule disputed the charge and said that it was simply opposition propaganda through his personal assistant for media, Emmanuel Innocent Akwe.
He informed the public that everyone has the right to free expression under the law as long as they do not disparage others.
“The arrest of anyone was not ordered by the governor; it was simply opposition propaganda.
“Freedom of expression is protected by the law. Everyone is free to express themselves, but not in a derogatory manner, he stated.
The governor won’t be sidetracked, Akwe said, therefore the people of Nasarawa shouldn’t worry about any of the diversions coming from the opposition.
He asserted that the governor would gather all the stones hurled at him by his adversaries and employ them in building sturdy structures throughout the state.
“Governor Abdullahi A. Sule is intelligent. a profound thinker, philosopher, and psychologist. dynamic, smart, and brimming with creative concepts.
Do not be fooled into thinking that he will be defeated by constant, nasty assaults and weak mechanizations from some diabolical agencies. No!! He has no intention of doing that.
“He is not troubled, nor has his energy been dampened. The plan he has for the significant work he must do for the state of Nasarawa is still in place. His focus is squarely on the ball.
He is not now and never will be distracted. Instead, he is collecting the stones that the state’s opponents and their backers continue to hurl at him.
“He’ll build the state’s strong buildings out of the stones.
As wonderful allies of good will, all you have to do is keep praying for him. Asked Akwe.
He urged the governor’s supporters to maintain their composure since they were guaranteed to win the appeal.
