The Osun State Government has allayed the public’s concerns over the widespread cervical immunization program.
The vaccination, according to the statement, will limit the impact and spread of cervical cancer in the State.
This was announced by Dr. Akindele Adekunle, Special Adviser to the Governor of Osun State on Public Health, at the mass immunization campaign against cervical cancer awareness program on Wednesday in Osogbo.
The purpose of the gathering was to educate key members of society in advance of the vaccine campaign, which will begin on October 24, 2023.
He said that this was why the administration decided to ask all important stakeholders to educate, inform, and enlighten them about the threat posed by this problem and the efforts being made by the government to stop it.
“We are here today to allay your fears regarding receiving the vaccine provided by the government and our development partners to lessen the impact and spread of this disease in our State. We are a crucial partner in the progress of the state and a segment of society that are closer to the people, especially people of the grassroots.
We need to work together on this. We require your help. When administered, the HPV vaccination aids in preventing cervical cancer, according to Akindele.
The mass vaccination campaign against cervical cancer will begin on October 24 in Osun, one of just 16 states in the federation, according to the WHO’s Southwest Regional Coordinator, Dr. Isiaka Ayodeji.
This demonstrates Governor Ademola Adeleke’s dedication to enhancing the state’s healthcare delivery system, he stated.
