Due to the content of the well-known children’s book Queen Premier, the House of Representatives has requested that all levels of government impose a ban on it.
The resolution was passed after the House on Thursday approved a motion made by Sulaiman Gumi.
Gumi, the person who moved the motion, said that the book contained terms like “gay” and “eros,” which the lawmakers claimed are terms that are exposing youngsters to “gay and lesbians.”
He said that there is a “high influx of foreign educational materials introduced in Nigerian nursery and primary schools which tend to teach and promote certain morals that are alien and inimical to our cherished norms and values.”
Bello el-Rufai, who spoke in favor of the motion, claimed that the comments caused him to have to pull his kids out of a well-known Abuja school.
He claimed that despite spending a long time in the country, his religious upbringing had allowed him to maintain his “upright” demeanor.
The House consequently decided to outlaw the book as well as comparable works that support widespread culture.
The house also decided that it is unlawful to utilize such literature.
