The 2024 Appropriations Act bill would receive the finest care when it is presented by President Bola Tinubu, according to Philip Agbese, the Deputy Spokesman of the House of Representatives.
After the House Standing Committee on Appropriations was inaugurated on Thursday in Abuja, Agbese provided the guarantee.
Reports state that the committee, led by Hon. Bichi Kabir Abubakar, is in charge of reviewing appropriation bills to control how much money the federal government spends.
Agbese reaffirmed the House’s willingness to uphold the Financial Year Act by passing the budget before December 31 or earlier.
He said that by doing this, the budget will be carried out from January to December.
He further stated that the job of the committee is not limited to budget appropriation and that the Bichi-led group will closely oversee implementation by all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).
“The House Appropriations Committee has been established and is well-positioned for success. Nigerians ought to have high standards.
“We are convinced that the House will examine the Appropriation Act with the utmost care, and Bichi will carry it out with the utmost care. All we can ask for is Nigerians’ support, he remarked.
The Federal Government said on Monday that it is estimating N26.01 trillion in spending for the fiscal year 2024.
