Due to his agitation for the actualization of Biafra, Kanu was apprehended during the Buhari government.
In June 2021, he was taken into custody in Kenya and extraterrestrially extradited to Nigeria.
The Nigerian government re-arrested him in court once he returned to Nigeria.
Although Kanu was exonerated and found not guilty, the Nigerian government has refused to release him while he is being held by the Department of State Services, or DSS.
