Newcastle United of the Premier League is investigating a transfer for Victor Boniface of Bayer Leverkusen.
For €12 million this summer, Boniface transferred from Union St. Gilloise of the Belgian Pro League to Bayer Leverkusen of the Bundesliga.
Following nine goals and three assists in 10 games for Bayer Leverkusen, the well-built striker has drawn attention.
The Sun reports that Newcastle United scouts saw him participate for Nigeria in a friendly match against Saudi Arabia last weekend in Portugal.
Although the 22-year-old didn’t score, he was a pain for the Saudis’ defense, creating issues that led to an own goal.
Boniface is a major target for Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe who wants to add some muscle to his frontline to compliment players like Alexander Isak and Callum Wilson.
