Saleh Idris, the party’s chairman in the Roni Local Government Area, has been placed on administrative leave by the Jigawa State branch of the All Progressives Congress due to accusations that he raped and impregnated his 14-year-old housemaid.
This was said in a statement given to the press that was signed by the state chairman, Aminu Sani Gumel.
Idris had been remanded due to the allegation by a Chief Magistrate’s Court in Dutse, the state’s capital.
According to reports, Idris was detained on October 4 as a result of a complaint from the victim’s brother by the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps.
Adamu Shehu, the state’s NSCDC spokesperson, confirmed in a statement that the minor was, according to results of a lab test, “a healthy pregnancy of about four months and two weeks.”
According to the APC statement, “Following the allegation of rape and impregnation of a minor and the findings of the state chapter’s preliminary inquiry, the party has come up with the following resolutions:
“That your act contravened Section 21.2 (viii) and (x) of the APC 2022 Constitution as amended and that there is a need for further investigations.
The party acknowledged the need for more research into the situation. You are subsequently removed from your position as party chairman for the Roni Local Government Area spending final report of investigation.
The party also instructed him to turn over control of the organization to the vice chairman of the local government region.
