The Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Jafaru Ango, has been absolved of any wrongdoing by the Nasarawa State House of Assembly committee looking into the diversion of palliatives.
During the hearing in Lafia, Hon. Abel Yakubu Bala, the Chairman of the Committee, verified the clearance and declared that Ango was innocent after meticulous investigation.
Ango had clarified that he was not directly involved in the distribution of the palliatives, but rather was simply in charge of supporting duties.
The committee also invited Hon. Bello Akoza, the Overseer of Ekye Development Area, and Dr. Nawani Aboki, the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to Governor Abdullahi Sule, to discuss their responsibilities in the distribution of palliatives in Ekye Development Area.
According to the committee chairman, the invitation was made to them in the interest of impartiality and the committee’s willingness to complete a thorough job,
Amb. Timothy Maikasuwa, the Karu Local Government Area’s Commissioner for Special Duties on Security and Public Matters, also made an appearance before the committee to discuss his role in the distribution of palliatives.
Other Nasarawa South Senatorial District commissioners and chairmen have commented on their respective distribution roles in the meantime.
During the hearing, Hon. Jafaru Ango was supported by Hon. James Thomas, the chairman of the Karu Local Government Area and Overseer of Karshi, as well as council members and the Karu speaker.
