Over 51 people, including a district head, have been taken hostage by bandits in various parts of Zamfara State, while at least three people have been slain.
The event happened on Tuesday when the armed men broke into the mining community of Bagega in the state and opened fire intermittently, killing the three locals.
The police command’s attempts were unsuccessful since ASP Yazid Abubakar, the police public relations officer, did not return his calls as of the time this report was filed.
Malam Abubakar Uba, the head of the hamlet, however, told Reuters that the development was true and that the gunmen first abducted the district chief in the area before abducting scores of other people.
Numerous motorcycles were used to invade the area, and they made the District’s Head residence their first stop.
A handful of them carried him away along with three of his family members before they entered the town and caused additional damage, according to Uba.
