Sen. George Akume, the SGF’s secretary, has said that he has no grievances against Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, the governor of Benue State.
This information was revealed by Akume over the weekend in Gboko at the funeral of Chief Haar Orpin, a senior member of the APC and its chieftain.
He argued that the state’s citizens would greatly benefit from his and the governor’s cooperation and urged them to continue to support both of them in order to bring democracy to the State.
In attendance as Akume’s representative, Chief Simon Shango, noted that the late Chief Orpin, a member of the APC elders’ forum, had supported him throughout his life.
He prayed to God to give the deceased’s soul eternal peace, regretting that he died when his wise guidance was most required.
In his remarks, Governor Alia expressed his delight over the SGF’s assertion that their relationship was not in crisis and vowed to keep cooperating amicably with the SGF in the good of the state.
Alia characterized the late Chief Orpin as a pacifist, devout Christian, who led a peaceful life, and whose outlook served as a compass for the APC.
He claimed that the late elder statesman promoted harmony within his own Jemgbagh neighborhood, noting that his approach of maintaining an open door policy is a component of his insightful advice.
Alia reaffirmed his commitment to collaborating with the SGF and other political figures in the state in order to ensure the quick growth of the state.
