The Federal Government of Nigeria and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have agreed to work together to address the humanitarian and poverty issues in Nigeria.
It praised the initiatives taken thus far in that regard by President Ahmed Bola Tinubu.
Salem Saeed Al Shamsi, the UAE ambassador to Nigeria, announced this while leading a team to the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation in Abuja.
This was said in a statement that Rasheed Olanrewaju Zubair, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Honourable Minister, provided to DAILY POST.
“Nigeria remains a strong ally of UAE and we would continue to partner with Nigeria in key areas like humanitarian aid, job creation, nutrition, health care development, and poverty alleviation,” the envoy, who called the relationship between his country and Nigeria as symbiotic, added.
In response, Dr. Betta Edu, the minister for humanitarian affairs and poverty eradication, praised the government and people of the United Arab Emirates for their prompt contributions in crucial Nigerian areas.
The Minister praised the Ambassador and his staff in particular for their efforts to assist Nigeria in various ways.
She pointed out that the President has started fully implementing his excellent plan to reduce poverty outlined in his 8-point agenda.
Also speaking, Dr. Manal Taryam, CEO of the Noor Dubai Foundation, said the organization has focused on humanitarian interventions, such as an eye treatment program that started in Katsina State and will soon be expanded to Lagos and Abuja.
She asserted that the Dubai foundation will be pleased to provide support in a number of areas that are directly related to the mission of the ministry.
The South-West SSA to the President on Community Engagement, Hon. Moremi Ojodu, and the SSA on school nutrition, Hon. Yetunde, among others, attended the meeting.
