As he begins his long trip of the Middle East, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has landed in Jordan.
According to the BBC, Blinken will meet with King Abdullah of Jordan and Mahmoud Abbas, the president of Palestine.
Abbas is Hamas’s political adversary in the Gaza Strip and is situated in the West Bank.
Blinken has visited Israel before, where he pledged his nation’s unwavering support and declared that Israel would “never, ever” be left alone.
Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was also informed by him that the country “must operate by the rules of war” in its response to the Hamas strikes.
He is anticipated to travel to Qatar, which has a history of supporting Hamas, after Jordan.
Additionally, US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin has just arrived in Israel for discussions with the defense minister of that nation.
