Abdulahhi Sule, the governor of Nasarawa State, recalled how he received advice to close the Goshen Camp of the Living Faith in Masaka after it called on Christians to support Christian candidates in the state’s most recent general elections.
The governor stated this during a speech on Tuesday in Abuja at the recently finished 2023 Peace and Development Submit for Young University Students.
Remember how Bishop Abioye, the vice president of Living Faith Church Worldwide, urged Christians to support politicians who share their religious beliefs prior to the 2023 general elections? That was according to an article.
“Anyone who claims right now that there is no place for religion in politics is lying to you. Vote according to your faith without hiding it. I shall cast my vote for my faith until tomorrow. I won’t cast my vote for anybody who will kill me. said Abioye.
Gov. Sule asserted during the summit that he had declined to order the Bishop’s arrest despite popular opinion.
For those of you who remember, Nasarawa State is home to the majority of the major religious institutions, including the Goshen City at Kilometer 36, which is led by the revered Bishop David Abioye, who once asked in a video released just before the elections why a Christian couldn’t serve as governor of the state.
Then, he exhorted Christians to support only Christian candidates.
“Someone came and gave me some advice; let’s see if that church has paid their taxes; if not, shut the church down.
“They suggested sending security to have Bishop Abioye arrested for making such things, but I refused.
Sule’s election victory was declared invalid by the Governorship Election Tribunal Petition (OEPT), which was presided over by Justice Ezekiel Ajayi, on Monday, October 2, 2023. David Ombugadu of the PDP was declared the legitimate winner of the March 18 elections.
