Professor Charles Soludo, the governor of Anambra State, declared on Tuesday that the All Progressives Grand Alliance would win Imo State back in the governor’s election on November 11, 2023.
At a meeting with Tony Ejiogu, the party’s candidate for governor in the state, at the Anambra State Government House in Awka, Soludo made this disclosure.
You’ll concur with me that Imo state has been an APGA stronghold, he continued. Also from the State are the majority of our founding fathers. APGA is Imo, and Imo is APGA. We have had difficulties in the past, but as a party, we have persevered. It’s time for us to be persistent and consistent in taking back Imo.
The first party containing the term “progressives” in its name is APGA, according to registration records. Others view parties as a tool for winning elections, but in the APGA, we champion true federalism with a mandate, basic values, framework, and structure that will advance the country.
The huge support the party has had in the past in Imo, where it has won elections, and the next governorship race, he said, show that the seemingly impossible goal of unseating an incumbent is attainable. By supporting a trustworthy candidate, APGA has shown and proven its dedication to the growth and success of Imo State.
In addition to receiving other APGA candidates for governor, such as Idoko Kingsley Ilonah of Kogi and Hon. Subiri Waibodei of Bayelsa state, Soludo reaffirmed that the APGA is still the only political group in Nigeria that has demonstrated empathy, passion, and a sincere desire to improve the lives of the populace.
There have been notable differences in APGA in the state, as it fielded a transparent candidate who has become a model for future candidates, whose qualifications are not shielded in secrecy, according to Sylvester Ezeokenwa, the national chairman of APGA, who also spoke. Maintain your commitment to the party’s principles; the expectations are high as a result of your joining. You’ll support a brand-new Imo. When I look at you, I envision a beautiful Imo day. You’ll be strengthened by God.
For his part, Ejiogu thanked the party’s leadership for fostering an environment that allowed those with track records of success to participate in governance and vowed not to betray the trust. He also asked for the party hierarchy’s support in order to be successful in his campaign to win Imo state.
