Tuesday saw the police accuse Adeleke Temitope, 20, of kidnapping a 15-year-old girl and bringing him before an Ado-Ekiti magistrate’s court.
The defendant, who has no established residence, is on trial for wrongful kidnapping.
According to the prosecution, Insp. Sodiq Adeniyi, the defendant committed the crime on August 30 in Ikere, Ekiti.
According to Adeniyi, the accused forcibly kidnapped Adeyemi Ayomide, a 15-year-old girl, against her will.
He claims that the act violates Section 275 of the Ekiti State Criminal Laws from 2021.
In order to analyze the file and gather his witnesses, the prosecutor pleaded with the court to postpone the case.
However, the defendant entered a not guilty plea to the accusation brought against him.
His attorney, Mr. Benjamin Aladesuyi, pleaded with the court to release his client on bond with a pledge not to leave it early.
The defendant was given bail in the amount of N50,000 by the magistrate, Dolapo Babalogbon, with one surety in the same amount.
She postponed the hearing on the matter until November 22.
