Ademola Adeleke, the governor of Osun State, has said that his government will resurrect the state’s ailing adult literacy centers and encourage skill development for all people, particularly women and young girls.
At the International Conference of the Nigerian National Council for Adult Education (NNCAE) held at the University of Ilesha in Osun State, Governor Adeleke announced this.
Adult education is more important than ever in the history of the nation, according to the governor, who was in attendance and was represented by Commissioner for Education Dipo Eluwole.
More skills must be learned in order to ensure sustainability and success due to the constant need to learn new technical concepts and advancements.
In addition, he stated that “adult education is the only way out due to the increase in teenage pregnancy, early marriage, child labor, irresponsible parenthood, and society’s violation of the Universal Basic Education Ethics.”
In order to give Nigerians a second opportunity at basic reading and numeracy, he pleaded for swift action and proper engagement with the Federal Ministry of Education.
