Popular rapper Chibuzor Nelson Azubuike, well known by his stage as Phyno, has said that when he was a struggling musician, people told him that if he wanted instant recognition and success in his music career, he should join a cult or partake in rituals.
When advising upcoming artists on shortcuts to success, Phyno made this clear.
He never believed in shortcuts since he thought that hard effort, perseverance, and resilience were the essential qualities that might make him successful.
The rapper counseled upcoming artists to temper their desire for instant success and to be cautious before signing with just any record company out of desperation without carefully reading and taking into account the contract’s stipulations.
Some people assume we have it easy today, but that is far from the truth, he said.
“I never liked simple things. Before Phyno became well-known, I had songs that no one had ever heard of.
Some people advised me to give up, that I needed to join a cult or offer something or someone as a sacrifice. I responded that the cost was too high. I’ll never act in such a way.
I began off modestly, but I had faith in the strength of hard labor, and I give God praise today.
Further, Phyno counseled emerging talents to embrace the attitude of perseverance and hard effort rather than acting in a desperate manner.
“Young artists need to unwind; do not be anxious for record deals or attention. Continue working; your moment will come.
“What conditions would a label offer you if you begged them to sign you? They will utilize you because they already know how desperate you are.
“At first, you might not notice it, but if you wait, you’ll regret it. Nothing pays better than perseverance and hard effort, he said.
