On September 5 and 6, the NLC earlier began a two-day warning strike during which it gave a 14-day deadline.
The union continues to claim that it would shut down the economy if its demands are not satisfied, despite the government’s best efforts to stop the movement for an indefinite strike.
Online allegations that the union has started an indefinite strike went viral on Friday, while workers wait for additional instructions.
Benson Upah, the head of NLC’s department for information and public affairs, responded when reached by saying, “The report is not true.”
He urged the populace to ignore the viral report.
