Hannah Bassey, a lady, was arraigned before a Karu Upper Area Court in Abuja on Wednesday for allegedly robbing her flatmate of personal items and N200,000 in cash.
Bassey, 48, of Nyanya, Abuja, was accused of burglary and stealing by the police.
But the accused entered a not guilty plea to the accusation.
According to the prosecution, Mr. Ade Adeyanju, the defendant took the things and N200,000 in cash from her flatmate.
He said that the defendant was unable to provide a convincing account of herself throughout the police inquiry.
Sections 354 and 288 of the Penal Code were violated, according to the prosecutor.
The defendant was granted bail in the amount of N150,000 with one surety in the same amount by the judge, Malam Yusuf Adamu.
Additionally, he stated that the surety’s identification card and account statement must be retained in the court’s possession.
The court postponed the hearing on the case until November 8.
