Governor of Plateau State Caleb Mutfwang has expressed sympathy to those affected by the recent flood tragedy in the state’s Jos North Local Government Area (LGA).
The governor also requested assistance from the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), and other emergency management organisations.
recalls that two lives were lost and property was destroyed in the flood that wrecked devastation in Angwan Rogo, Naraguta, Apata, and other areas of the LGA.
In a statement issued on Wednesday in Jos, the state capital, Mutfwang quoted Mr. Gyang Bere, his director of press and public affairs.
The governor of Plateau State, Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, expressed his sincere condolences to those impacted by the recent flood tragedy that devastated Angwan Rogo, Naraguta, Apata, and other towns in the state’s Jos North Local Government Area, according to a statement.
“Governor Mutfwang expressed his condolences to the relatives of the deceased and wished those who suffered injuries a speedy recovery in a message of compassion.
“The Governor urged the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) and the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to asses the needs of the affected communities and supply relief supplies to the affected families as soon as possible.”
While highlighting the significance of ethical construction methods, Mutfwang “warned against the construction of homes in flood-prone areas and the improper disposal of waste in drainages, which obstructs the natural flow of water.”
He urged every state citizen to take the effort to keep their neighbourhoods clean, especially in places where obstructions to water flow may occur.
“Governor Mutfwang expressed his condolences to the mourning neighbours in Jos North Local Government Area as well as to the direct relatives of the dead.
“The Governor gave them assurances about the government’s commitment to enhancing citizens’ quality of life.
The statement said, “He emphasised the necessity for communities to detect environmental concerns and work with the government to cooperatively resolve them.
