The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for governor of Lagos in 2023, Dr. Abdul-Azeez Adediran, also known as Jandor, called the circumstances surrounding the death of late artist Ilerioluwa Aloba, also known as Mohbad, “very unfortunate.”
On September 12, news of the 27-year-old singer’s passing stunned music fans.
Adediran appealed for thoroughness in the inquiry into the musician’s murder in a statement released on Wednesday by Mr. Gbenga Ogunleye, Head, Media and Communications JANDOR4GOVERNOR Campaign Organisation.
“Mohbad’s death, which was announced on September 12, is shrouded in secrecy and foul play, with widespread allegations of complicity on the part of some important figures in the music industry,” he stated.
“By conducting a careful inquiry into the circumstances surrounding his death, the law enforcement authorities need to discover the truth and make sure that no case of injustice is tolerated.
The country’s entertainment sector has suffered greatly as a result of this regrettable tragedy and the subsequent public outrage over attempts to conceal the situation.
Adediran bemoaned the premature passing of such a promising artist and the fear felt by music listeners over the alleged risks and unscrupulous undercutting occurring in the entertainment sector.
“This is a serious blow to the reputation of our music business,” he added.
