A court decision that sentenced a clergyman to 21 years in jail for attempted sexual assault has been applauded by the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA).
In a message published on its official Twitter account, @LSdvsa, on Wednesday, the agency praised the decision.
It claimed that when the defendant was found guilty of the crime and received a sentence, justice had been done.
The statement read, “Justice has been done; his name will be entered in the Sexual Offenders Register kept by Lagos State.”
The agency reaffirmed the state’s zero-tolerance policy and reaffirmed its commitment to supporting victims of sexual assaults and ensuring that offenders are held responsible, according to the report.

Obasanmi Waliyullah, an Islamic instructor, was sentenced on Tuesday by an Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court for attempting to defile a 15-year-old student.
Following his guilty plea to the two revised charges of attempted sexual assault by penetration and indecent treatment of a child, Justice Rahman Oshodi sentenced him.
For the first count of attempting a sexual assault by penetration and for the second count of indecently treating a minor, the judge found Waliyullahi guilty and sentenced him to 14 years in jail. The second offence received a seven-year sentence.
