In order to close the gender gap in the business, the Ibom Innovation Network, a group of technology professionals in Akwa Ibom State, has criticised the state’s low level of female involvement in technological growth.
The organisation brought up the issues at a news conference in Uyo to commemorate its second technology week.
Idongesit Essien, the organization’s public relations representative, claimed that society and women appear to be unaware of the prospects and realities in technology. She emphasised the need for more awareness so that women will realise how great it is to begin a career in technology.
Though it is a field that is dominated by men, he stated, “There should be a consciousness for the women to embrace tech and know that it brings many opportunities.”
“We are focusing on adolescents 16 and older. We are aiming to reach secondary school kids, university students, venture capitalists, those working in finance, and members of the government, particularly those in charge of Nigeria’s scientific and technology regulators.
“We want people to be able to recognise issues and utilise technology—hardware, software, or a mix of the two—to fix them. It is a networking opportunity that will motivate individuals.
