According to the Federal Inland Revenue Service, the federation account received N8.5 trillion in mid-September 2023.
This information was provided to Zacch Adedeji on Monday by the former FIRS chairman.
He stated that from January 2023 to mid-September, N8.5 trillion in tax income was earned.
He claimed to have carried out changes that have realigned the FIRS’s operations with the mission assigned to him when he assumed control in December 2019.
Nami emphasised that the FIRS has increased tax collections to the point that it accounts for more than 70% of the monies distributed during the monthly Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) meetings.
He continued by saying that the present government has set up a presidential fiscal Policy and Tax reforms committee as part of its objective to maximise income.
Recalls that Adedeji was nominated to lead FIRS by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu last week.
In 2022, FIRS produced more than N10 trillion.
