A kidnapping attempt was thwarted by the Jigawa State Police Command, and the victim was freed unharmed.
In a statement provided, the command’s spokesman, DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam, confirmed the occurrence.
He said that on September 17, 2023, at around 20:40, thugs with lethal weapons broke into the hamlet of Kwanar Garki in the Babura Local Government Area, abducted Isyaku Umar of Kofar Arewa, and shot Ahmad Abdullahi of Babbar Ruga in the armpit.
He said that as soon as the complaint was received, a group of police officers under the direction of Babura Divisional Police Headquarters raced to the area and unharmed freed the victim who had been abducted.
He said that the patients were sent urgently to the Babura General Hospital for treatment.
According to Shiisu, the Ringim Division was informed by police in the Babura Division that the alleged kidnappers were moving towards the Ringim Area.
The Vigilante Group and a squad of police officers conducted a stop and search in the Daushe hamlet along the Ringim Kanya Babba route.
He claimed that when the hooligans saw the police, they abandoned their Vectra with the registration number NEN 20 NZ Anambra State and fled to the hills.
He said that in addition to an Android phone, the car also had an AK-47 gun, a magazine, and 15 rounds of live ammo.
He stated that the pursuit of the evading offenders is in full swing.
