According to the Lagos State Police Command, the body of the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, also known as Mohbad, would be exhumed for an autopsy to help, if necessary, with the cause of death inquiry.
Although Mohbad, 27, was said to have passed away on Tuesday, the reason for his passing has been up for debate ever since the unfortunate event.
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, stated during an Instagram live session with media personality Ifedayo Olarinde, also known as Daddy Freeze, on Thursday night that the police would look into the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s death.
According to a report, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the force’s public relations officer, stated in a statement on Thursday that the police would conduct a thorough inquiry into what caused Mohbad’s death.
The Force PRO released a statement this evening (Thursday) stating that an inquiry will begin, and that is what we are going to do, SP Hundeyin stated during his interview, referring to the Force PRO. The body will be exhumed if necessary. It is still possible. It is possible to exhume the remains and conduct an autopsy.
Additionally, it is said in the statement that anyone with information should contact the Lagos State Police Commissioner. This is because we no longer wish to employ hierarchy. Bring it to Lagos Command after taking it to Force CID. It is irrelevant. We are going to balance it internally and see to it that justice is served.
There are claims that this happened after a document came to light in which the late singer accused a music promoter named Samson Balogun, aka Sam Larry, and others of oppression, assault, and other crimes in a petition to the Force Criminal Investigation Department Annex in Alagbon, Lagos State.
The dead and another musician, Omoniyi Temidayo alias Zlatan Ibile, were working on a video shoot when Sam Larry and 15 other armed men invaded the location and threatened to cause mayhem, according to Mohbad’s June 27, 2023 plea.
He said, “They eventually assaulted him (Mohbad) before he just barely escaped with injuries after they destroyed equipment valued at over N5 million at the scene.”
I, a law-abiding citizen with the aforementioned name and residence, as well as a musician, bring to your attention the assault and danger to my life by the aforementioned individuals.
“On June 25, 2023, while I was shooting a video with another artist named Zlatan (Ibile, the aforementioned individuals, numbering about 15, led by Sam Larry Elegushi, entered the location with dangerous weapons like guns and cutlasses, disrupted the entire shooting process, damaged the equipment I was using for the shooting valued at about five million naira, and began threatening my life. As a result, they turned violent and assailed me.
The aforementioned images are attached to this petition. Eight Million Naira (N8,000,000) is the total price I paid for the shooting that they destroyed, and it is non-refundable.
“However, during the assault, they boasted that they are employees of Oba Elegushi and that they were asked to deal with me for reasons that are only known to them; to this day, they have continued to make threats to kill me if I am seen. Please use your excellent authority to protect me from the aforementioned individuals and bring them to justice.
Part of the plea said, “Sir, I call on your good office to save my life from the above-mentioned persons and bring them to book.” We appreciate your prompt action.
