On Friday, a car accident along the Onitsha-Awka Expressway in Anambra State’s Odumodu Junction by Nteje claimed the lives of five people.
Two vehicles were involved in the collision: a commercial Daf/Leyland lorry with the license plate T-19094LA and a Mitsubishi L300 bus with the license plate XE245AWK.
According to reports, the commercial bus was struck by the truck’s container while it was being driven through the collapsed section of the road at around 7:30 in the morning.
Eyewitnesses at the scene reported that the two vehicles were traveling in different directions; one was reportedly headed to Awka, while the other was headed to Onitsha.
The crash included about 10 people, including three adult males and seven adult females.
According to the report, “Five people, all female adults, were killed; two male adults, two female adults, and one male adult were injured to varying degrees; one male adult was rescued unharmed.
The two vehicles arrived at the scene simultaneously, and the truck’s weight caused the container to fall on the bus and wreck it.

Corps Commander Adeoye Irelewuyi, the Sector Commander for Anambra State, expressed sympathy to the relatives of the deceased victims and asked God to grant them eternal rest. He also wished the injured victims a speedy recovery.
