Dauda Lawal, the governor of Zamfara State, presided over the security council meeting on Thursday and said that his government will continue and strengthen the war against banditry there.
The governor was briefed by the leaders of the state’s security agencies during the meeting.
Sulaiman Bala Idris, the governor’s spokeswoman, said in a statement that protecting people’s lives and property remains the government’s first priority, which explains why it is determined to help all pertinent security agencies.
In keeping with his government’s determination to give security a high priority, Governor Dauda Lawal presided over the security council meeting, the announcement said.
“He heard briefings from the leaders of the security services about their coordinated efforts to combat banditry.
The operations of bandits in several areas of the state, particularly on the Gusau-Funtua, Magami-Dangulbi, Dan Kurmi-Anka, and Magami-Dansadau highways, were brought up by the governor.
“He further encouraged the commanders of the military and police to send out CSK platforms and Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs) to continuously monitor all the affected highways, with the state government providing them with the necessary logistical assistance as needed.
He urged the state’s security authorities to take steps to clear out all bandit camps as well.
