The Nigerian Airforce carried out airstrikes at Arina Woje, a terrorist hideaway in the Southern Tumbuns near Lake Chad, on Friday. As a consequence, numerous terrorists were killed, while many of their associates were injured.
NAF planes have also carried out airstrikes on insurgents and oil thieves in an effort to stop criminals from wreaking havoc on innocent people, the environment, and the economy.
When announcing this, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, director of NAF Public Relations and Information, said, “Credible information had further shown that the site (Arina Woje) remained active with some additional terrorists utilising the region to store their weapons and other supplies.
The air attacks were authorised as a direct result of the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai fulfilling its mission, and a resounding success was reported based on the enormous cloud of smoke and flames seen as well as reaction from residents living nearby.
“It is important to remember that the region was last attacked on June 13, 2023, with great success, but it was noted that some terrorists were returning to the area to hide as the heat from other areas increased.”
Air Commodore Gabkwet said, “Several air strikes were also conducted in the country’s Niger Delta region, particularly at Bille, a remote village in Rivers State’s Degema Local Government Area, which has become well-known for its numerous illicit oil operations.
“On Thursday, one of these strikes was required due to the discovery of an operating illicit refining plant with reservoirs and storage tanks that were possibly holding illegally processed goods.
The attacks, which attempted to deny, deter, and eliminate oil thieves’ operations, which have continued to harm both the environment and the country’s economy, were declared effective.
“Air attacks will continue in all difficult regions and places where it is known that illicit criminal activity takes place.
“These operations will also work closely with other law enforcement and government organisations until the activities of these criminals are drastically reduced.”
