Jordi Alba, a defender for Spain, has left international play, the Spanish Football Federation said on Friday.
The former Barcelona left defender, who is currently at Inter Miami in the United States, led the group to UEFA Nations League victory in June.
Alba made his international debut for Spain in 2011 and has since played 92 times, contributing nine goals.
The 34-year-old scored for Spain in the victory against Italy in the Euro 2012 championship game to help La Roja keep the Cup.
The RFEF issued a statement saying, “From the Spanish football federation, we have eternal admiration for this wonderful route, thank you, Jordi.
For the left-back position, Spain has a number of options to choose from, including Alejandro Balde of Barcelona, who replaced Alba at the club level.
