ActionAid Nigeria, a social justice non-governmental organisation, praised President Bola Tinubu on Friday for his 8-point agenda, saying it offers hope to Nigerians who are impoverished and marginalised.
AAN praised Tinubu’s creative proposal and called it “a crucial step towards addressing the pressing issues affecting the poor and excluded, especially women.”
The President was complimented by the country director of AAN, Andrew Mamedu, for making the decision to include every person in the grand plan of things.
AAN, according to Mamedu, applauds the President’s focus on the necessity, inventiveness, and determination to provide all Nigerians with high standards of living.
The 8-Point Agenda, he continued, “reflects the aspirations of the citizens for a more inclusive and prosperous society, encompassing critical areas such as food security, ending poverty, economic growth, job creation, access to capital, improved security, a level playing field, rule of law, and the fight against corruption.”
He urged the President to create distinct quantitative metrics for each objective, though.
“However, we firmly recommend that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Federal Government include precise and quantifiable measures of success for each objective.
To promote efficient monitoring and assessment of progress, which will ultimately improve accountability and public confidence, transparent and quantifiable milestones are crucial.
“ActionAid Nigeria also urges President Tinubu to encourage all levels of government in charge of carrying out the 8-Point Agenda to actively collaborate with CSOs.
In order to effectively engage citizens in the execution, monitoring, and assessment of these vital projects, he stated, “CSOs possess valuable expertise, community rootedness, and the ability to mobilise citizens.”
In the meantime, he (Mamedu) assured that ActionAid Nigeria is optimistic about the positive effects that the 8-Point Agenda can have on Nigerians’ lives and that the organisation looks forward to collaborating closely with the government and other CSOs to translate these ambitious plans into concrete actions that will enhance Nigerians’ quality of life.
In order to make sure that the benefits of the 8-Point Agenda reach those who need them the most, he continued, “ActionAid is also committed to playing its part in this process and we are open to collaborative partnerships with other CSOs.”
