The administration of Akwa Ibom State has declared the release of one billion naira to be added to the first influx of painkillers it got from the federal government.
The State governor announced the supplementary palliative package while speaking to members of the government House Press Corps, according to a statement on Wednesday night.
Eno also said that people will start receiving palliatives on Monday, September 4, 2023.
He promised that the approximately 2270 communities in the state would receive 50 bags of rice each with the release of one billion naira, which would be added to the 3000 bags of rice and N2 billion already received from the federal government.
“I am certain that each village will receive at least 50 bags,” he said. We will distribute to the Hausa, Yoruba, Igbo, and Niger Delta communities as well as to the security services and anybody else who might not be able to travel to villages.
Despite not being from a community, they are a part of Akwa Ibom. Additionally, we have authorised adding another line for teacher gratuities. We have given the State and the local government our approval. It costs the state two billion dollars.
In order to assist ensure that we provide our young people work, we want to complete one project every local government. We are taking some quick-fix solutions. Remember this is a short-, medium- and long-term packages.
The governor said that the government has received intelligence on certain person’s trying to disrupt the calm being enjoyed in the state by instigating the youngsters to create a violation of law in response to a query regarding the protest by some youths on Tuesday in the state.
Let us realise that Akwa Ibom is for all of us, he said, urging the young of Akwa Ibom not to let such individuals lead them astray. We want to keep pushing the idea that this state is calm and will stop at nothing to keep it that way.
“Those of us in positions of leadership must refrain from saying things that would enrage young people.Now is not the time to mislead our young people. We have intelligence on everyone responsible.
“I would like to advise the people of Akwa Ibom to refrain from such acts,” I would like to say to the Akwa Ibomites who are financing these teenagers.
