Ruqayya Mukhtar, a 25-year-old housewife, testified before a Shari’a court in Rigasa, Kaduna, on Thursday that her husband had not had sexual relations with her in two years.
In addition to asking the court to annul her marriage to Naziru Hamza, the plaintiff claimed that her spouse had physically abused and ridiculed her.
The husband defended himself by stating that he made every effort to appease his wife sexually and refuted all accusations.
“Since I go out to work to earn a living, I occasionally get home late and exhausted, but my wife never understands; she constantly wants closeness.
I frequently comply with her requests and occasionally ask her to wait until the following morning, and I don’t hit her,” he stated.
The complainant responded in the affirmative when the judge, Malam Anass Khalifa, inquired about witnesses.
In order for the complainant to submit her witnesses, he postponed the issue to September 5.
