Festus Keyamo, the minister of aviation and aerospace development, has reaffirmed that airports all over the world serve as sources of revenue for the state.
The minister made this disclosure while on a visit of the Lagos General Aviation Terminal, or GAT, with Mr. Kabir Yusuf Mohammed of the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria, or FAAN.
He expressed displeasure at certain key airport locations where there were no advertisements, saying that this represented untapped government funds that were being lost.
He said that Bola Tinubu, the president, had warned them about the need to increase government income.
Let money come in via all of these gaps here, he said.
“There should be life once somebody drives into any small airport. Online advertising agencies cannot and should not replace traditional media for advertising.
“Our mission is to generate income for the government. Please get in touch with the advertising companies to have them place ads on all of these areas.
“We cannot be complaining about a shortage of funding while having all these spaces. Please send me any relevant information about your results within seven days.
