The new cabinet members have been given strict instructions by President Bola Tinubu to get to work right away and make every effort to turn around the nation’s fortunes.
He delivered the instruction to the cabinet members on Monday in Abuja at the start of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting.
“We have the skills, intelligence, and potential to change the course of our nation. We both understand that there are huge expectations. As a result, we must put in a lot of effort, commit to doing so, and build a strong economy that benefits all Nigerians.
The president urged the ministers to collaborate, emphasising that if they remained committed to carrying out their duties, the nation would advance rapidly.
“Each and every one of you is a part of our team. We can do anything within the scope of our responsibilities, but it all rests on you. We’ll all get there better if you stay focused, and the nation will benefit as well, he assured them.
According to Tinubu, the country’s natural resources must be effectively utilised to improve living for its residents.
“We need to make this nation’s energy and natural resources more accessible. We need to start providing for ourselves, get out of the woods, put an emphasis on healthcare and education, and make social investments that are crucial for the advancement of our population.
“Our economic programmes specify our main areas. Every sector is our first priority, and you should be in charge of realising this and making it a commitment to the entire country and the continent of Africa.
“We must accomplish the desired level of economic growth. To please Nigerians, he stated, “We must feed our people, make the most of what we already have, and grow more.
As he exhorted the ministers to be brave in making decisions that would advance the country, Tinubu said he would continue to listen to the desires and ambitions of Nigerians and make adjustments where required.
“I’m prepared to hear you. I am willing to accept changes because only God is flawless, as I mentioned to the Nigerian Bar Association yesterday. The issue with leadership, he added, is that people are frightened to take a stand.
In order to improve the situation of citizens, the president added that issues including security, unemployment, and food security will be addressed.
