The governor of EDO State, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has stated that despite the country’s dire socioeconomic situation and the dark outlook for the future, Nigerians should not give up on their country.
This was addressed by Obaseki at an interdenominational Thanksgiving ceremony held at the New Festival Hall, Government House, Benin City, Edo State, to commemorate the Midwest Referendum and the 32nd anniversary of the Edo State.
The governor stated that in order to create a State where people may live happily and prosper, the grandeur of the new Edo Nation was at the cusp of transformation in the areas of infrastructure, development, innovation, and inclusion.
I applaud everyone who made time to attend the 60th Mid-West Referendum and 32nd anniversary of Edo State, the speaker stated.
“Today, we are gathered here to give thanks and praise to God for all that He has accomplished for our nation. True, times are tough and the future appears grim, but we must give thanks to God since we can only count on things becoming better if we have faith and hope in him.
“I am anticipated to make some declarations about the State and the glory of the new Edo nation this morning.”
Dear Edo State folks, blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the governor declared, quoting Psalms 24:1-2. The Earth and everything on it, as well as the World and everyone who lives in it, belong to the Lord because He founded them both on the sea and the waters, respectively.
Father, you are just as near as the oxygen we breathe. May you and the light, life, and increase fill Edo State as we and our beloved State continue to flourish and revolve around you.
As a sermon to bring us together in our collaborative endeavours, Obaseki added, “Today marks a critical movement in our path. The dawn of this new era has revealed a horizon of boundless possibilities.
To seize this chance with unwavering tenacity is both a duty and a luxury.
“As we approach change, let us keep in mind the aspirations that sparked our passion and the motivation that drives our work; we are the designers of this new splendour in our beloved State.
“The glory of the new Edo resides not in its infrastructure alone but in the belief of its people, unwavering in their dedication to progress and unity, burdened with the responsibility to create its destiny.
“Let us keep the idea of innovation in mind because it is innovation that will show us the way to success and prosperity.”
“Let us break the barrier that prevents spiritual revival, advancement, and inclusivity, creating a thriving society with the fear of God, diversity, and a common goal,” he continued.
“Righteousness, justice, and cooperation between neighbours form the cornerstone of this new horizon.
“We shall continue to celebrate each other’s accomplishments and work together to overcome obstacles. The splendour of this new era is ingrained in our ideas and deeds; it is not some far-off ideal.
“Today, we take on the task of being the engine that propels the grandeur of a new Edo. Our devotion is unwavering, our efforts never-ending, and our dedication unwavering.
While celebrating with Governor Obaseki and the people of Edo on the auspicious occasion, Aniagwu Charles, the governor and commissioner for works of Delta State, said, “I bring greetings from the people of Delta State, wishing the Governor and the people of Edo State to finish strong.”
The former Chairman of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Felix Omobude, preached on the theme of “Edo the Beautiful” while quoting Ecclesiastes 3:11: “We all should build on the value of Edo State which are integrity, honesty, and respect for one another.
The people of Edo must honour the One who made the State’s creations beautiful.
“I want to thank the governor for the good things you are doing for Edo people,” Omobude said, praising the governor for his transformational initiatives across the State.
“It truly represents us as the things are beautiful in the land.”
