There is no sit-at-home order in Ebonyi, according to Ngozi Obichukwu, the state’s commissioner for aviation and technology, which might hinder or impair airport operations and aeroplane movements in the region.
Speaking to reporters at the Chuba Okadigbo’s Airport in Onueke, Ezza South LGA of Ebonyi State, Obichukwu made the allegations.
She said that the airport had appropriate security in place thanks to the state administration, which is run by Governor Francis Nwifuru.
The Commissioner added that Ebonyi place is the safest place for passengers while also announcing the opening of international airlines at the airport.
She said that because of its strategic importance and close proximity to the Trans-Saharan and Cameroonian borders, the Chuba Okadigbo Airport poses a danger to other airports in the South-East area.
She claimed: “The Airport’s popularity has increased in part as a result of the state’s disrespect for the sit-at-home edict. Neighbouring states like Ogoja, Ikom, Okigwe, and Enugu, where people may do business without being restricted by the sit-at-home rule, have paid substantial attention to this scenario.
Travellers were urged by her to ignore claims that a sit-at-home order would prohibit them from leaving Ebonyi State for their destination.
“Due to its advantageous position, the Ebonyi airport presents a significant threat to a number of other airports in the South East. The lack of sit-at-home limitations will draw visitors from diverse areas, in particular.
“With the Trans-Saharan route and its international classification, the airport provides easy access for investors, students, and locals to engage in their regular activities,” the speaker added.
