Roberto Mancini, the former manager of Manchester City, just accepted the position of head coach of the Saudi Arabia national team and stated that he is eager to make history.
On Sunday, Mancini agreed to a four-year deal with an annual salary of about €30 million.
Less than a month ago, he announced his resignation as manager of the Italy national team.
In a video released on social media site X, formerly known as Twitter, Mancini responded to his new position by saying: “I made history in Europe, now it’s time to make history with Saudi.”
The Italian continued, “I thank President Yasser Al Misehal,” on his Twitter page.
“I am happy to have accepted this new initiative, which is focused on sharing the strategic vision of growth in the football industry and, in particular, in the world of young people that I have always cared about.
“This assignment is a recognition of the worth attributed to Italian football, and through this experience I will proudly represent our Italian spirit to the world.”
