Luis Rubiales, president of the Spanish FA, made headlines for kissing forward Jenni Hermoso during Spain’s World Cup victory at the conclusion of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Angeles Bejar, the president’s mother, has started a hunger strike in response to the widespread condemnation of her son’s actions.
The woman has locked herself in a church in Montril, southern Spain, and has pledged to continue the hunger strike “indefinitely,” as reported earlier today by the Spanish news agency EFE.
She claims that the “inhumane and bloody hunt that they are doing with my son is something he does not deserve,” according to Spanish news outlet EFE.
Recall that it was previously claimed that Luis Rubiales grabbed Jenni Hermoso by herself and put a kiss on her lips while they were hugging in celebration of their World Cup triumph.
It was further established that she didn’t like it by the subsequent forward. But there was a lot of pressure on the head of the Spanish FA, and on Saturday, FIFA’suspended him provisionally.
The Spanish FA will convene on Monday to conduct a thorough investigation.
