Terseer Waya, nicknamed Kiddwaya, the third Big Brother Naija All Stars contestant to be kicked out, has described how he nearly died after receiving the wrong diagnosis and treatment.
He said he experienced panic attacks in 2020 following his participation in Big Brother Naija’s “Lockdown” season, but was inadvertently prescribed medication for high blood pressure for three months.
Kidd revealed this in a recent conversation with well-known media figure Hero Daniels.
2020, he declared, “will be the year of fame. Approximately eight weeks have passed since the [BBNaija Lockdown] programme at the time. Everything was excellent and wonderful. One day, I was on my bed talking to my cousin when I stepped up to use the loo and noticed that my legs were trembling.
“This occurred during COVID-19. Then I began to suspect COVID. When I could sip water but it wasn’t getting inside, my tongue started drying up and my legs started trembling. My vision was hazy. I was clearly beginning to worry. I then phoned my physician. She came and took my blood pressure, which was around 180.
“That was absurd. I assumed I had COVID at that time since, in 2020, what else was getting greater attention? therefore I assumed that was the case.
“They [doctors] examined my blood pressure and stated it was really high, but they weren’t really able to identify the cause. They just knew that my blood pressure was really high. So they started me on BP medication for months which was not what was supposed to be done. I actually could have died because what I had was anxiety attack, it raised your BP high and then bring it back down to normal levels.
Because I wasn’t meant to be on BP medications, they (my physicians) put me on them, which interfered with my blood flow. Additionally, I used it for three months. I thus may have had some really negative effects.
He continued by saying that his London doctor informed him afterwards that the incident was an anxiety attack and that he had “nothing to worry about.”
