SYNLAB Nigeria, in collaboration with the Private Sector Health Alliance of Nigeria (PSHAN) and Sacred Heart Hospital Lantoro Abeokuta, arranged a free cancer screening for 100 women in Ogun State to encourage the early diagnosis of illnesses for a better life.
The major objective of the event was to encourage early cancer identification and prevention, a disease that affects millions of people worldwide. SYNLAB Nigeria offered a cervical cancer screening to all women using their cutting-edge Liquid Cytology (LBC) technique and a group of knowledgeable medical experts. The liquid-based Cytology screening method is a thorough strategy designed to spot probable cancer risks early on, improving the likelihood of effective treatment.
In addition to providing free cancer screenings, the event acted as a forum to spread awareness of cancer and the value of routine exams. The event’s educational workshops and expert-led discussions provided guests with knowledge about cancer risk factors, cancer preventive techniques, and the value of routine physical examinations. These initiatives demonstrated the collaborating organisations’ dedication to encouraging a proactive health management culture as well as to delivering healthcare services.
Following a successful mobilisation by the Sacred Heart Hospital, whose facilities was also utilised for sample collection, the event achieved its goal of offering free cervical cancer screening for 100 women using the LBC technique. Many guests expressed their thankfulness for having access to high-quality medical treatment that they would not have otherwise been out of their reach.
Working together, representatives from the participating groups made sure the event ran smoothly and was successful.
SYNLAB Nigeria’s CEO, Kenneth Okolie, expressed happiness for a successful event by saying, “We are happy to witness the excitement and engagement from the community in our free cancer screening event. We are devoted to democratising access to healthcare and enabling people to take control of their own health. In keeping with its objective to ensure a healthy society via community impact initiatives, SYNLAB Nigeria occasionally works with organisations and associations to provide free medical checks for the general public.
