Sharafadeen Alli, a senator from the Oyo South senatorial constituency, has expressed concern over criminal elements exploiting his identity to defraud members of the public.
The congressman stated that he has been aware of the actions of con artists who solicit donations from the public on his behalf.
The former secretary of the Oyo State government issued a warning to his supporters not to fall for any scam artists using his identity.
Akeem Abas, the legislator’s special adviser on media, issued a statement warning the public to be suspicious of anybody claiming to speak for the lawmaker in any role linked to empowerment.
In conjunction with such actions, he stressed, any demand for money, financial support, or other favours should be reported to the proper authorities.
“It has come to our knowledge that someone has been defrauding individuals under the guise of offering possibilities for empowerment while using the name of our Principal, Sen Sharafadeen Alli.
“Thank you for your understanding that Sen. Sharafadeen Alli is not a party to any such activities and has not given anybody the right to demand money on his behalf for such purposes.
We admonish the public to exercise extreme caution when dealing with anyone claiming to speak for Sen. Sharafadeen Alli in any capacity with empowerment initiatives. In connection with such operations, any request for cash, financial support, or other favours shall be notified to the relevant authorities.
