The Anambra State Police command has pledged to crack down on cultists and their backers who are wreaking havoc in the state capital of Awka.
Aderemi Adeoye, the state police commissioner, called cult members killers and said they should not be allowed to live in a community with respectable people. He also called individuals who encourage cult members to kill other people cowards and said they should hide their faces in shame.
According to Mr. Tochukwu Ikenga, the state police’s PPRO, the chief of police has stated that the command will punish the cruel cults that like killing people severely.
He issued a warning that no one should phone him to request the release of any cultists detained during the next clampdown operation unless they want to be exposed.
The state’s peace and tranquilly, which were recently disrupted by cult-related deaths in the capital, would soon be restored after Adeoye already authorised an all-out offensive against cultists and their supporters.
He asked for everyone who followed the law’s assistance in eradicating the threat of cultism from society.
