Justice Margaret Igbetar, a retired president of the Customary Court of Appeal in Makurdi, Benue State, was slain by gunmen.
Her son is claimed to have found her remains at her home on Wantor Kwange Street, across from the School of Medicine at Benue State University, on Thursday evening.
Her body had already begun to deteriorate when it was discovered in her home, according to a family source.
The source added that the murder was reported to the Makurdi “E” Division Police station as soon as the woman’s body was found.
She must have been slain before Thursday, the insider continued, because her corpse appeared to be deteriorating at the time the body was discovered.
An experienced police source confirmed the occurrence, however SP Daniel Ezeala, the divisional police officer, could not be reached for comment right away.
